Job Title: Farmer Groups Volunteer

Reporting to: Sub-Regional Coordinator

Term: 4 months Contract


The Position:

The Volunteer will be responsible in offering support in the implementation of Support to Agriculture and Fish Production for Enhanced Food Security Project (SAFiP) funded by Dan Church Aid within Anglican Development Services North Rift (ADS NR) Region. The Volunteer will ensure timely farmer group service delivery as well as providing technical support to the farming groups. The position requires good understanding of best practices in agriculture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mobilize the farmer groups for technical trainings
  • Make follow-up visits to the demonstration farms/plots
  • Make house to house visits to assess the impact of the project
  • Conduct basic trainings on good agricultural practices
  • Ensure the target number OF 300 farmers is reached by the end of December 2018
  • Ensure the drip kits are functional and the shallow wells are working

Required Qualifications & Special Skills

  • At least a certificate in Agriculture or any related field
  • Must be 18 years of age and above
  • Able to speak in the local Language (Turkana)
  • Must be open and willing to learn
  • Have knowledge and experience
  • Experience in facilitating community engagement forums
  • Experience in dealing with local community structures
